Christian Harmony: Generational Praise and Worship Music

Worship music is phenomenal for setting the mood of praise and devotion, as well as honoring God. Parents are a huge influence on the type of music that your kids will grow to like. At some time, they will become more so influenced by peers, so it is best to use your influence in the early stages of Christian parenting and build a solid foundation of beliefs and values.

Most parents seem to be okay with Christian music for kids, but when they reach adolescence their choice of music may turn your stomach. If you are used to gospel songs as a form of worship, you may find Christian rock bands, Christian heavy metal bands, or even contemporary Christian music repulsive.

Remember what the Bible says…

Psalms 100:2 sheds some light on worship saying…

Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

The purpose of worship is to praise God, recognize His divinity and to give thanks to Him. Psalms 100:5 says…

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Worship Music

If your teens are “bored” by traditional worship and praise music, they will not express “gladness” or view the songs as “joyful”. Perhaps Christian songs that are produced in their style of music will awake that joyfulness, gladness, praise, and worship in them. It might even improve their self-concept .

The best way to choose Christian music for the family…

Not all parents, me included, understand the words that accompany the exasperating sound of some music. The best way to decide if it is truly worship music or Christian music is to read the lyrics and to read music reviews.

You can usually find lyrics to just about any song on the internet. You will find music reviews on this website, on my blog and in my newsletter.

Can you help me out?

Help If you think highly of some worship music, or you find that the lyrics are disrespectful or encourage teen risky behavior such as violence, hatred, use of drugs and alcohol, or self mutilation , I would really like for you to write a music review to express your opinion .

Here are some reviews and some worship music that you will find enlightening…
