My story…
When my first husband and I were separated, I was convinced that I could take on the role of single Christian parenting alone and put my urge to have a man in my life aside until my children were grown. I actually did that for a year and two months during our separation. During that time, I got really close with God.
We reconciled and I was committed to making the marriage work. Evidently, he wasn’t. He just came back for the benefit of the kids. After we lived together for about seven months, he left again and voiced his intention of divorce. When that was all over, I was definitely ready to start dating, but I assure you, I wasn’t ready to make good decisions.
After a bad relationship, I took a break from dating and prioritized my objectives. I was parenting two kids, homeschooling them and supporting them with a home-based business. If there was going to be a man in my life, he had to be a Christian that shared my values. Having a
Christian marriage
was extremely important to me. Single Christian parenting is hard enough, you don't want to marry someone who doesn't share your values.
Internet Dating...
In order to meet such a man, I took up online dating which is how I met the man that I am currently married to. He was personally selected from quite a list of prospects and being married to him makes me feel blessed.
If you are a single Christian parent interested in meeting Christian singles online, you might check out Christian Café, eHarmony or Christian Mingle. I met my husband on Yahoo! Personals, but I also met a lot of men that just didn’t fit the bill; however, there are some Christians there and it is very popular site among singles.
