A Book Review of The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman

The Five Love Languages is a powerful book full of sound advice for couples. Dr. Chapman, relying on his long term experience as a counselor, wrote this book to address the common problem in many marriages – feeling loved by your spouse.

Some things that you think show love to your spouse may not be interpreted as expressions of love from his or her point of view. Dr. Chapman relieves this problem by introducing us to five different languages of love and helping us to discover what “language of love” our partner craves.

Dr. Gary Chapman also wrote books featuring the languages of love especially for men, singles, children and teens. Whether Christian parenting, single parenting or step parenting or trying to improve your Christian relationships , these books might be beneficial to you.

My opinion of the books...

I ordered both the standard version and the version for men for me and my husband for Valentine's Day. I was very impressed by Dr. Chapman's identification of the five categories of languages of love. I think that he is right on target.

The examples that he used throughout the books are easy to relate to. I was most impressed by the profile's for husbands and wives that is provided in the back of the book. Not only does he explain the five different languages, he also provides the tools to identify which languages your spouse runs on. I absolutely love his concept and I am happy to apply his suggestions to my marriage.
