The Value of Christian Relationships

Christian relationships and fellowship are so important to a Christian family. I can’t emphasize enough how much my church family has helped me and my children to grow in faith and how much they inspired me to stay committed to Christ in hard times.

It is so easy lose sight of God’s purpose for your life if you are constantly influenced by worldly values (or lack of) and you don’t have constant inspiration from other Christians. Remember…

“…Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:6)

You don’t want that “someone” to be you or your children, so focus on building and maintaining Christian relationships to help to keep you focused.

How do you build such relationships?

Christian Relationships Getting involved in a local church is the easiest way to meet people who share Christian values. You notice I did not say “Go to church”. I said, “Get involved”. You, your spouse and your children can participate in small group Bible study or in a small group ministry in addition to going to church and Sunday School classes, and maybe even missionary trips.

Small groups are a great place to meet friends and develop supportive relationships that will keep you committed and focused as well as providing inspiration when storms hit.

What if you need special help?

Christian marriage resources such as marriage counseling and marriage classes are great for keeping your marriage strong, or even restoring a marriage. Doug Britton has some great resources for married couples including Bible studies, online courses and so forth.

If you need support for Christian parenting, consider taking Christian-based parenting courses or church offered Bible studies. Cafemom is a great online source for mothers to “hang out” and get solid advice from other mothers.

You will find a lot of value in resources for parenting advice as well. You might also be interested in resources by Dr. Kevin Leman , Dr. Charles Stanley , Max Lucado, John Maxwell, John Eldredge, Michael Pearl, Debi Pearl, or Walt Mueller, founder of CPYU. Family Life Today is also great resource for Christian parenting.
