Children Stories: What is Better than the Bible!

Children Stories

Reading children stories to young children encourages them to learn to read themselves and can inspire them to become life long learners. It can also result in bonding between child and parent so it is a perfect way to spend quality time with your kids. Preschool Bible lessons regularly use stories that are adapted from the Bible in a way that children will understand them. There are also Bible story books that are perfect for bedtime stories.

Reading Bible stories to children will teach them basic Bible knowledge and prepare them for Bible study when they get older.

When I was homeschooling my boys, I used The Bible Story by Arthur S. Maxwell as part of our reading lesson. It is a ten volume series with over 400 stories from the Bible written in a way that children can understand them and it is illustrated like children stories.

I already had the collection of children stories and I made worksheets and tests to go with it, so basically it was free home school curriculum which served the purpose of both reading and Bible study. The boys loved the stories and they remembered them and refer to them often, so it definitely made an impact.

The Bible Story collection is not cheap, but you might can find a used set. I think that my mom got my set at a garage sale because it is collector’s style copyrighted in 1953. Nowadays there are newer versions with bright covers.

The Bible Story is a great baby shower gift for new parents. It will be no time before they will be reading bedtime stories to the expected baby and the length of it will last for quite a while. It is one of the best children stories that I have ever read.
